The machine we will be using is unique in it’s ability to remove virtually all of the glass from the plastic laminate material of auto-windshields. It breaks down automobile windshields into two recyclable products:
1. a clean homogeneous glass product pulverized to less than 1/4” in size to fine sand grade 2. Plastic laminate pieces which can range in size from 1” to larger sheets For more detailed info go to: http://www.glassagg.com/recycled_glass.html According to J.D. Snyder, CEPES's director of the Recycling Materials Center, over 70 tons of windshield material per month is currently land filled by Henderson Glass, a Michigan chain of 33 glass replacement stores. This demonstrates the volume of windshields that can be diverted from landfills, potential cost savings from avoided costs of disposal, costs of collection and processing operations, and marketed material prices.
